Romanian Association of CROs (ACCSCR) Takes Active Part in EUCROF Spring General Assembly 08/09 June 2023

Bucharest, Romania – June 12, 2023 – The Romanian Association of Contract Research Organizations (ACCSCR) proudly participated in the EUCROF Spring General Assembly held on June 8th and 9th, 2023, in the vibrant city of Athens, Greece. The event was marked by insightful discussions, valuable updates, and collaborative efforts among the participants to advance the field of clinical research.

The Assembly commenced with a warm welcome note from Dr. Martine Dehlinger-Kremer, the President of the European CRO Federation (EUCROF https://www.eucrof.eu/ ), highlighting the significance of such gatherings in fostering knowledge sharing and collaboration within the clinical research industry. The event provided a platform for representatives from various CRO Associations and related organizations to engage in meaningful dialogues on crucial topics shaping the future of clinical research industry.

Throughout the Assembly, numerous interventions took place, covering a wide range of subjects that are central to the advancements in the industry. Key highlights included discussions on the EUCROF Interim Progress Report for the year 2023, shedding light on the organization's ongoing initiatives and accomplishments. Additionally, exciting updates were shared regarding the upcoming EUCROF24 Conference, scheduled to take place on February 19th and 20th, 2024, at the prestigious Marriott City Centre in Prague.

A significant portion of the Assembly was dedicated to the presentations from various working groups. ACCSCR actively contributed to these discussions, ensuring that the voice of the Romanian CROs community was heard on an international stage. The working groups covered a diverse array of topics, including:

  • CTIS Users: Insights into EMA bidirectional feedback to enhance communication channels and streamline processes.
  • EU Benchmarking 2023: Comparative analysis and best practices for fostering excellence in clinical research.
  • GDPR Code of Conduct: Addressing the critical issue of data privacy and compliance in clinical trials.
  • xShare Opportunity: Exploration of collaborative opportunities through sharing resources and knowledge.
  • Talent Engagement: Strategies to attract, retain, and nurture top talent in the clinical research field.
  • Clinical Research Barometer: Assessing the industry's current state and trends to inform future strategies.
  • New Technologies: Exploring innovative tools and technologies to enhance clinical trial efficiency.
  • Paediatrics: Advancing research and development in pediatric medicine to meet unmet needs.
  • Patients’ Associations: Enhancing patient-centric approaches in clinical research by engaging patient communities.

ACCSCR's participation showcased their commitment to contributing to the growth and development of clinical research practices not only within Romania but also on a European scale. The Association's representatives actively engaged in dialogues, shared insights, and collaborated with peers to drive forward meaningful discussions.

ACCSCR (Romanian CROs Association) presentation by George Tanaseanu (President) was of particular interest. Mr. George Tanaseanu introduced the Romanian Association ACCSCR he chairs, which counts 18 members. The purpose and objectives of the Association are: to represent members’ interests before the competent authorities involved in the process of regulation, implementation and supervision of the clinical trials in Romania (including the Ministry of Health, the National Medicines Agency, The National Ethics Commission, the Medical Science Academy, etc.); to support the development of clinical trials in Romania by performing/sustaining actions regarding the simplification of procedures, maintenance of constructive dialogue with the competent authorities involved in the process of regulation, implementation and supervision of the clinical trials; to contribute to the implementation and maintenance of quality and efficiency of the clinical trials in accordance with the applicable legal provisions in effect (including ICH-GCP rules); to promote integrity in all aspects related to clinical trials; to support and initiate actions meant to ensure the efficiency of the clinical trials in safety conditions for the involved subjects.

Mr. George Tanaseanu affirmed that: “We (ACCSCR) believe in cooperation, democratization, balanced distribution, and inclusiveness. We strive to strengthen the competitiveness of the Romanian CTs industry. Inevitably, we face challenges, roadblocks at any corner: the ever changing international and local environment, competition and market pressure, health care systems struggling to adapt, volatile workforce, educational systems trying to catch up with industries’ demands, new technologies implemented almost at a breakneck speed. We will face them head-on!”  Finally, Mr. George Tanaseanu put forward Bucharest, as next venue for the Spring GA in 2024.

As ACCSCR looks back on their successful participation in the EUCROF Spring General Assembly, they remain dedicated to fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the clinical research community.
